Priyamani's Thotta on July 17

Reigning actress Priyamani's much-acclaimed Tamil flick Thotta (2008), directed by Selva with Jeevan as hero, is being dubbed in Telugu with the same title and is all set to release on July 17. Srikanth Deva has scored the music. The movie is jointly produced by V. Padmakar Rao and Jadcharla Nagaraju. The film revolves around Shanmugham (Jeevan), who comes to a metro with his mother in search of his father (Raj Kapoor). He finds his father, but soon realizes that his father is happily living with another woman. In a tussle, his father kills Shanmugham's mother and sends the boy outside to beg. An auto driver (Chandrasekar) saves the boy and gives him some money to return home. However, he is caught by some corrupt policemen who employ him for their illegal activities. When he grows up, he becomes a notorious rowdy nicknamed Thotta (bullet), prominent aide of a highly-corrupt DCP Murugavel (Sampath Kumar), executing people in encounters for which the DCP takes credit and gets promotions. One day, Shanmugham is asked to pour acid on the face of a girl Nalina (Priyamani). During his attempt, he finds that Nalina is the daughter of the same auto driver who had befriended him and falls in love with her. Nalina is ambitious and wants to become a police officer. When Shanmugham hears her ambition, he promises that she will soon get the job as he is very close to the Commissioner of Police. However, when Nalina approaches Murugavel for the job, he insists that she have sex with him. As a result, Shanmugham and Murugavel split.
