Tamil actor Vijay not to join political party for now

The Congress party’s effort to attract star value to its Tamil Nadu unit received a setback with leading Tamil film hero Vijay declaring Sunday he did not intend to join politics in the near future.
“I have decided not to join any political party for now. In future I will join hands with a party in power that works for the welfare of Tamils across the world,” Vijay told reporters here.

Speculation was rife in the state about the actor joining the Congress after his meeting with party general secretary Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi last month. It was expected that he would formally join the party during Gandhi’s three-day Tamil Nadu tour last week.

Earlier, he had converted his fan club into a people’s movement - Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.

Vijay, 35, is still not out of top hero list in the Tamil movie field and seems to have decided to focus on his movie career for the time being.

It is also alleged that he faced pressure to stay away from Congress and other parties, otherwise his movie career would be at risk.

Vijay’s next movie “Vettaikaran” slated for Diwali release has been purchased by Sun Pictures belonging to Kalanidhi Maran, grand nephew of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi.

Vijay’s 51st movie with Dharani

Another interesting thing is... The Director of Vijay’s ‘Vettaikaran’ Babu Sivan is none other than a former associate of director Dharani. Recently, Dharani and Vijay were spotted together for the audio launch function of Suriya’s ‘Aadhavan’. Dharani and Vijay seem to maintain a kinda close relation always uh...?

Sources say that Vijay has signed the project for a whooping remuneration and had also received a big sum as an advance. And do you know who the producer of this big budget is? He is a man who started his first project with co-producing Vijay’s ‘Kadhalukku Mariyadhai’ that took the actor and the producer to great heights. Yeah! Vijay’s 51st film will be produced by Aaskar Ravichandran.

Vettaikaran’s Rs. 3 cr loss

The Vijay starrer Vettaikaran was being shot in the AVM Studios and an expensive set, costing around Rs. 3 crores, was erected for the purpose. A few scenes were shot at the sets but the unit was in for a rude shock this morning when they came to know that the sets were badly damaged in a fire accident. With this, the shooting of Vettaikaran has suffered a set back apart from the huge losses incurred by the team.

Vijay gets into social services

Actor Vijay, who has been involved in various social welfare activities, is keen on jumping into politics. A year ago, he had launched an official flag for his fan club. Indeed, it was a foundation laid for his political foray.
Recently on his birthday, Vijay commenced computer centers for under-privileged students in Chennai and announced about launching 200 centers throughout the state. On July 26, Vijay heads to Pudukottai for inaugurating yet another computer centre with 10 systems on behalf of his Marthandapuram Fan Club. Apart from this, he will distribute free wheel chairs and hearing aid for physically challenged individuals.
Says Vijay, “Computer will dominate for years to come; it’s better for youngsters to be well educated on this subject.’

Vijay’s half century

Nearing his filmi half-century, talented actor Vijay is taking no chances with his upcoming flicks since in the past he had a couple of movies like Kuruvi and Villu, which received lukewarm response at the box office. Once bitten and twice shy, the actor now wants to shift the pattern and taste success.

He has already completed finalizing the team for his 50th film Urimai Kural which is going to be directed by SP Rajkumar, while Sangli Murugan would be producing the movie. The team sounds be an interesting one. While Vijay has finalized “Jeyam’ Raja as the director for his 51st flick but the news is not made official.

We just hope that the actor succeeds in successfully completing his century in a grand way.
